Boo at the Zoo presented by U.S. Cellular

Knoxville’s largest Halloween event featuring not-too-scary Halloween fun that’s perfect for preschool and elementary-aged children! A Halloween tradition for 34 years, BOO! at the Zoo is a family event featuring trick-or-treating along the BOO! Trail, where little trick-or-treaters can fill their bag with goodies as they make their way through the zoo. Be sure to stop by the Bank of America Monster Mash for dancing and fun! Each night of BOO! at the Zoo will have a variety of entertainment, costumed characters and festive lighting to make a great evening of seasonal fun.

Lifelong Learning Book Club

The Libraries and the Psychology department invite anyone from UT to participate in a Lifelong Learning Book Club every fall and spring semester. This book club aims to promote a community of support for lifelong learning with teachers and students alike.

This semester, read Small Teaching Online: Applying learning science in online classes, by Darby Flower, and join us for virtual discussions throughout the semester. The e-book is available online through the UT Libraries’ catalog.

Colonial Pie Baking Workshop

October 18th | 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Join Marble Springs State Historic Site in our historic tavern to learn a simple yet delicious pie recipe suitable for an open fire! Our volunteer Fran will walk through step by step on preparing the dough, filling, and how to cook the pie to perfection. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and recommended for participants aged 12+. Space is very limited so RSVP to save your spot! Tickets are available on Eventbrite.com or Facebook.

Tickets are: $20 for Nonmembers, $15 for Members

Those attending will need to bring the following items:

Filling (i.e. apples, berries, etc), Rolling pin, 2 knives,

Measuring cups and spoons, Medium Bowl.

FARRAGUT’S FREAKY FRIDAY

Things look a little different this year, but we are excited to provide a safe “trick-or-treat” for the Farragut community! Safely trick-or-treat in your car along Jamestowne Boulevard. Face coverings are required (really run with this one - it’s Halloween!) for vendors and highly encouraged for participants in their vehicles. Participants in Freaky Friday Drive-Thru Boo will be required to register for a time slot and must signify how many children will be in the car.

TinyTrees Drop Off

Only Date Available for Drop Off. The purpose of this project is to help the long term care pediatric families get a little bit of normal in their lives that are consumed with Dr. visits, chemo, bone marrows, spinal taps, surgeries, pokes, IVs etc. Especially those who must stay over the holidays. Our goal is to simply give back and help families who are going thru medical trauma as this affects the whole family.

So bring your 3’ decorated Christmas Tree for ETCH patients to the ETCH Scripps Building at the corner of 21st and White Ave in downtown Knoxville. Required: -3’ trees ONLY, -plug in lights, - secure and wire on ornaments, - kid friendly theme.

No-no’s: - no candy, - no gift cards, - no sharp objects, - no trees skirts, - no extension cords, - no extras attached.

Trees will be moved multiple times and all items should be secured so when the tree is picked up nothing falls off.
